Diveclub Biber, Richterswil
Our diveclub Biber was founded in 1979. It originated from a group of people who were in the Swiss Lifesavers Society of Richterswil. The foundation meeting was held at the restaurant Raben in Richterswil on November 23rd 1979. The 10 new members chose the name Biber (beaver) and elected Peter Grob the first president of the club.
Since then, there were the new presidents Fritz van Wieringen (until 2001) and Juerg Trachsel (since 2002) taking care of the club. Our goals always stayed the same though: We always were and still are dedicated to support and promote underwater-sports, through exercises, courses, lectures and excursions within and outside of Switzerland. Besides this, companionship is very important. For that reason, we actively participate in and contribute to cultural and social events in and around Richterswil.
Circumstances have changed quite a bit since 1979. By now we have 35 members in the club and since 1988 we have our - well maintained and loved - club-locale in Richterswil. The great advances in the technical field of diving evolved us from diving "frogs" into full sportdivers with computers and digital underwater-cameras. The well blended group of people from different generations and backgrounds lets us exchange many interesting experiences and learn from each other. We are proud to combine the charme of original diving-experiences with the technical possibilities of our time.
